Here is a roundup (in no certain order) of Astoria and Western Queens tidbits.

Simply Fit. “Simply Fit Astoria will be celebrating the Grand Opening of their new studio this Saturday, September 17th! Starting at 8:30am, the studio will feature free classes to both members and non-members throughout the day. Complimentary snacks and cold pressed juices will be provided courtesy of Aloria Cakes and Fusion Juice Bar. The first 50 visitors will also receive gift bags.” 37-20 Astoria Blvd

Mighty Balls has closed (as per Yelp). 35-11 34th Avenue

The Wolfhound opened on 30th Ave in early September. This is the location of previously failed businesses—that pirate bar (Fishtales) and the pizza-Bulgarian restaurant (Trakia). Here’s hoping The Wolfhound will have better luck. Along with drinks, they also have a little Irish grocery selling tea, biscuits, crisps, and baked beans, among other things. 38-14 30th Avenue

Little wine, cheese, and chocolate bar Gizi is for sale. It includes the wine bar, basement office, and backyard garden. 8 years is left on the lease, which is apparently “below market.” 47-34 Vernon Blvd

WilliamsBurger is for sale. This burger joint that moved from Williamsburg to the LIC/Sunnyside border has its lease up for grabs—8 years with 5 year option. The restaurant is 1,000sf and has a small backyard (unused currently). 36-17 Greenpoint Avenue

The old Bear space still looking for a tenant12-14 31st Avenue

Reddit reports that La Vita Mia is back open with new owners. 28-01 24th Avenue

The old Ghandi space is going to be Tikka Roll House. Sounds like kati rolls to me. 34-14 30th Avenue

Beer Closet, which we thought was closed, is remodeling and will reopen Thursday, September 15. 5-37 51st Avenue

I wonder if Wolfhound has the same owners as the previously failed tenants. I walk by everyday, and it seems like it’s a new spot every other month. Best of luck to the spot.

Considering I went about a month ago to Mighty Balls, walked inside and waited no joke 10 minutes and no one ever appeared at the counter and so I walked out…not surprised they closed. Bummed about Pizzastoria!

Any new info on what’s going into the construction site on 31st between Ditmars and 23rd Ave?

I was wondering about that as I walked by it last weekend. Not there long, but another pizza place is the last thing the block/area needed.
