Time Out New York wants to know: what’s the best bar in Queens? Their Time Out New York Bar Awards ask readers of every borough to select the best drinking establishment in their neighborhood based on hundreds of nominations. Make your voice heard by voting here before October 13!

Six of the seven Queens potentials are in either Astoria or Long Island City: The Bonnie, Judy & Punch, Alewife, Dutch Kills, Oliver’s, and LIC Bar. (All great options!) That got us thinking: if we had to pick our very favorite bar, who would we each select? This is a very difficult decision, but here’s what we each came up with:

Lindsay: Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden

Summertime at the beer garden can’t be beat.

“The Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden is perfect for almost every occasion: group outings, impressing out-of-towners, eating outside, and a casual beer with neighborhood friends. To me, there’s no place that feels more authentically old-school Astoria, and no place I’d rather enjoy a few drinks!”

“I love how low-key and friendly the bartenders are at Judy and Punch. I also love the good cider selection, and the juke box where you can choose your own songs (and space to dance in the back!)”

Mackenzi: Mar’s

What’ll it be?

“I know, I know, it’s so much more than a bar, but Mar’s is my go-to spot to have casual drinks with friends and fancy get-business-done networking drinks. Their atmosphere can’t be beat and the food quality and outdoor seating are a major plus.”

Tina always has a great lineup of weeknight activities at R’A’R Bar i.e. live music, Comedy shows, All Night Happy hour and more. It’s such a chill vibe, and feels so neighborhood-y, I love it!”

Letlove Inn! It’s so dark and divey; a great contrast to all the swank joints all over Astoria. Other contenders: Sparrow Tavern and the Bonnie.
