The Big Quiz Thing
As seen on the official quiz show of the city of New York, the Big Quiz Thing, NYC’s greatest live trivia experience, begins its residency at Q.E.D. in Astoria: The first Tuesday of every month starting August 4. Way more than a bar trivia night, the Big Quiz Thing—hosted by the best quizmasters in the business—presents a fully produced evening of multimedia team-quiz fun. Use the BQT’s custom-made Web app to answer unique video and audio puzzles, the Lightning Round, the Text Message Challenge, the climactic Buzzertastic Finale, and the greatest “figureoutable” trivia questions anywhere. Plus, hope for the non-geeky: Smart-Ass Points for wrong but funny answers! All for honor, glory, and NYC’s greatest live trivia prize haul, courtesy a panoply of A-list sponsors, including NYC’s best live experiences and cultural institutions. Only $8 in advance, $10 at the door.

Live Irish Music at Daly’s Pub

Latinos, rejoice! This Thursday, September 3rd, Mundo will be hosting Flamenco with Hernan Romero—Grammy Award winner and four time nominee. As we all know Mundo is a great location for drinks and dinner, but it gets even better when you can have dinner and a show with no cover. In-Sight Dance Company’s 6th Annual Suite Summer Festival
In-Sight Dance Company’s Suite Summer Festival gathers compelling professional dance companies from New York City and beyond to create a diverse dance experience in Queens. The sixth annual festival will offer two distinct programs to be held over Labor Day weekend. The free, site-specific performances will invite the audience to of rove around the park and participate in an immersive dance experience. In addition to the weekend performances, the public will have the opportunity to experience the dancers’ creative process during July and August open rehearsals.

Kayaking and Canoeing
Astoria Boaters and LIC Community Boathouse offer free kayaking and canoeing, departing from the Socrates Sculpture Park Beach at Hallets Cove (tide & weather permitting). People of all ages are welcome to participate or volunteer; no prior boating experience is required and participants may sign up on a first come, first serve basis. Minors (under 18 yrs.) must have a parent or guardian present.
