Well, looks like there’s another clue as to what is the deal with the new restaurant (by the folks from Bareburger) in the old Athens Cafe space. It’s a stencil of some dude—not a bear, like we’ve known from Bareburger for many years—who looks kind of like a swashbuckler, what with that sword and all. What do you think is going on in there?



The restaurant centers around southern Viginian food with an intense focus on wood-fired oven vegetables and roasts. Biscuits & pastries yummmmmm
Looks like a little Confederate or US civil war era soldier. Hmmm maybe some Southern cuisine? mmmm collard greens, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and corn bread! I can dream right??
Hmmm, wonder if 30th Ave could handle two Southern restaurants (incl Sugar Freak)…
You’re on the right track, John. Euripides Pelekanos is interviewed in this month’s issue of Boro magazine and he gives a hint about what’s to come for that location. Here’s the quote: “it will be Southern Hospitality, but local, fresh, fun, hip, farm-to-table, with local flavor to it.”
