I’m Lisa. In 2016 my love and I found our perfect two bedroom space. I’m currently 40 weeks pregnant, and we couldn’t imagine raising our little man anywhere else. We’re both queens-natives, but this little nook in Astoria is a dream. The living room is where we showcase our seasonal spirit. It’s often subtle. Here it’s Halloween. Describe your design aesthetic in 5 words or less: Cozy, sweet and practical. What’s your favorite room and why? The kitchen. It’s where we create, gather and dance, often without music. Cute kitchen, right? Despite the abundance of delicious take-out restaurants in Astoria, I love cooking and baking for our family here. (The table is one big chopping block). Most prized piece? Our three -piece couch. Up next: Christmas. Anyone else get their fresh trees on Dit? What part of your home are you most proud of? The nursery / second bedroom is my “most proud of” room, simply because it was designed with love. Hours of research went into picking every piece of furniture and textile, and it’s perfect for my little papa! Last but not least: my son’s little safari nursery. I can’t wait to hear him rawrr. Favorite local element? I live next door to what’s said to be the oldest house in NYC, the Lent Riker Smith Homestead. Three windows of my apartment overlook the backyard, consisting of a graveyard, a yellow workshop, stone cattle, and a mermaid to name a few. It’s the most peaceful view, and that’s hard to come by in a bustling Queens neighborhood. I love a basket wall, so I made one. Best apartment design advice? Avoid clutter. Less is more.
