During a recent trip to Spain the Ok Café owners found themselves in quaint wine bars; slowly sipping a glass of vino while snacking on cheese plates, savory snacks, and great desserts. After that experience, and chatting with their customer base, the team decided to turn their beloved coffee shop to an intimate wine spot after dark.

okcafe_wine varieties Their curated wine menu will change with the seasons. Although the selection list is short, there has been tremendous care put into finding a series of great wines. During our tasting we enjoyed four late summer varietals. Of all the ones we tried I want to call out the Torrontes (Alta Vista). This was a varietal that I’d never had before, the grapes are only grown in a specific region in Argentina. The taste reminded me of a crisp/juicy Muscat without the sweetness. Read super easy to drink…(and we did!). Give it a try!

okcafewine_cheese trayAlong with a nice big glass of wine you can also get a cheese and meat tray. Marinated olives, Manchego and aged Cheddar cheese, thinly sliced salami, and toasty bread.

okcafewine_empanadasOr a crispy empanada that comes in three flavors; Argentina Beef, Chipotle chicken, and Spinach and Portobello mushroom. (chicken and spinach shown above). Personally I liked the chicken, that chipotle gave it a nice little kick. Empanadas are a great savory treat to eat while wine sipping.

okcafewine_brownieWould you believe that this brownie is gluten free!!! I couldn’t believe it, but I ate the whole thing…including the ice cream. It was some real ooey gooey deliciousness. This brownie was my favorite dish of the night, not surprising since I have some deep love for brownies.  This brownie went perfectly with our final wine glass of the evening, a dark and robust Malbec.

Wine not your thing, that’s okay, they also serve several beer bottle options.
