Its first day of operation in 2014 is going to be Wednesday, July 9 and will continue each Wednesday until November 26. It operates from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on 14th Street between 31st Ave. and 31st Road. For reference, that puts it around the corner from Bear and nearby the Astoria Health Playground. A couple of farmers will be selling their delicious products. They are: Angel Family Farm: Vegetables, Mexican specialty products, salsas, herbs, and cut flowers from the Black Dirt region of Orange County, NY Migliorelli Farm: Vegetables and orchard fruit from Dutchess County, NY A few details about this particular market: This small weekday market draws a large number of shoppers from the surrounding neighborhood for its wide selection of vegetables, in-season orchard fruit, and a terrific variety of Mexican hot peppers, specialty greens and tomatillos. Community activities, cooking demonstrations, and health & nutrition related information and screenings will happen all season long until November 26. Since the market opens at 8 a.m., it could be quite convenient for the working person that arrives at their place of work in the mid-morning. Hooray for greenmarket season!
