Update on the Natural Foods Shop, Nature’s Taste, 35-07 Ditmars Blvd

Recently we’ve heard people wondering what is up with that space “on the other side of Brooklyn Bagel” (Astoria Bier and Cheese is to BK Bagel’s east). At first we heard it was going to be a barbecue joint, then we heard it was going to be a butcher. Well, we walked by yesterday and spoke to someone who was working in there, and we were told the space is in process to becoming a store called Nature’s Taste. He told us they’ll be offering organic produce, meats (including grass-fed beef), eggs and some prepared food. A sign taped to the outside was advertising for a “grill man.”

Likely the products will come from Garden of Eden (not to be confused with Garden of Eve) farm, as Nature’s Taste owner Theodoros Toumazou also owns this farm out in Aquebogue (Riverhead). Here’s an overhead shot of the bucolic area.

According to the DOB records, Mr. Toumazou started this process in May 2012, proposing an “eating and drinking establishment.” From what we could tell, the place seems more retail-oriented. FYI, the space used to be home to All Pets Veterinary Care. We’ll keep an eye on it.
