This year and every year, we’re thankful for: the late-night souvlaki truck, for quiet streets and trees that turn, for Athens Square chess games and Breakfast Shack victories, for above-ground, fresh-aired subways, and for neighbors who know our name. For space on the sidewalk to stroll and breathe, for sooooo many dinner options, for down-to-Earth people, for evenings with the most colorful sunsets that hit the rooftops just right, for business signs from another era, that remind you of the rich history of these streets. Now here’s what all of YOU are most thankful for! Thankful for grape vines, rose bushes, and sunflowers. And for friendly faces, loyal neighbors, and local vendors. Also grateful for delicious/endless food options, lack of pretense, elevated subways, multiplicity of languages, and familial roots. –@dianadirico I’m thankful for the open-hearted community that makes me feel safe and at home. There are no airs of being “cool,” we just are cool. Thankful that I’m surrounded by so many people from other cultures throughout our neighborhood as well so that we get to experience how much the world has to offer us whenever we want it. I am thankful that on Saturday, instead of shopping at a supermarket, I can shop at the butcher, fish monger, fruit and vegetable shop, bakery which makes me feel like I’m in Europe.
