Outdoor dining is something that is coveted here in Astoria, and even during the colder months you don’t have to miss out on it.

These restaurants all have enclosed and/or heated outdoor spaces of some sort — whether in backyard patios or around street-side bars — so you don’t have to sacrifice daylight views during the dark winter months.

The Astorian

The Astorian has a retractable roof that works for any type of weather. You can still look up at the sky through the clear windows and enjoy moody string lighting, but don’t have to worry about catching a winter chill! They often host Sauced Cinema events in this section.

Vite Vinosteria

Vite’s sidewalk seating is totally enclosed and has heat lamps, so you can nosh delicious pizza and pasta while looking out onto 34th Street, even in the winter months. It’s also the perfect spot for hosting a special dinner, since it can fit a long table and offers a sightly separate area from the rest of the restaurant.

Sweet Afton

Sweet Afton’s “Glass House” is enclosed, heated and open year-round. Its design was inspired by old world Georgian gardens, and it’s often booked for birthday parties, baby showers, engagement parties and the like.

Katch’s signature 2,500 square foot beer garden is entirely winterized for the season, fully enclosed and heated. Obviously you can hang out there at any time, but they they also have a Pups ‘n Pints meetup for local dog parents on the second Thursday of every month in the space.

Las Catrinas

Las Catrinas just added a circular enclosure with string lights around their window bar and outdoor seating. They say they’re “holding up to their legacy as a staycation destination,” even in cold weather.

Botte also recently added screens around their front window bar, so you enjoy a negroni “outside” even in the winter.
