Macy’s Annual 4th of July Fireworks Show is back on the East River this Thursday, but unfortunately not the part of the river that’s close to us in Queens! They will go off above the Brooklyn Bridge, starting at 9:20 p.m. and will last about 25 minutes.

The Macy’s website says they will be launching the fireworks from four barges stationed along the East River between Broad Street and the Brooklyn Bridge. So, the best viewing spots on their map include Seaport streets Broad Street & Water Street, Pearl Street and Dover Street, Pearl Street and St. James Street, and more. The Brooklyn neighborhoods of DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights will likely have great views as well.

For Queens locations: As we’ve suggested in previous years, if you’re on a really tall building you may be able to catch some of the show. Long Island City, which is a bit closer to that area, might have better views too. Though it ends before the show goes off, LIC Flea & Food (5-25 46th Ave, Long Island City)will be having a special 4th of July Night Market, so if you stick around and head to Gantry Plaza State Park after you’ll be right on the waterfront and may catch a glimpse.

Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island announced there will not be a view from there.

For other shows: the Coney Island Fireworks will start at 9:50 p.m., and the Freedom and Fireworks Festival in Jersey City will begin after dark (likely around the same time).

And Happy Independence Day!
