Follow Along with the Climate Mobilization Act

Yesterday, April 18, the Climate Mobilization Act passed in the New York City Council! The act is NYC’s own version of the Green New Deal, and “aims to dramatically slash the city’s planet-warming emissions, create thousands of blue-collar jobs and set the stage for future state and federal climate policies” (Huffington Post).

The effort has been led by our own Councilman Costa Constantinides, and the biggest part of the legislation requires landlords (of buildings of over 25,000 square feet) to slash emissions 40 percent by 2030, and double the cuts by 2050.
