The Best Places to Eat with a Large Group Openings, Closings and Rumors Early Spring Part II Back in October, we reported that something new was moving into the old Flattopps space on Ditmars. And now, it’s open! Acento Latin Kitchen and Bar is serving up authentic home cooking from a variety of Latin cultures and from the looks of it, it’s going over pretty well with the locals. “We’ve only been open a few days and people are loving it,” say owners Ricardo Gomez and Maria Ramirez. “We’ve had visitors so far from not only Queens but from all over NYC boroughs stop by. We are so grateful for the support and love! The Astoria community has welcomed us quite warmly!” They also said that people have been expressing their happiness over the authenticity of the food. “One passerby even mentioned [that] authentic Latin food is what Astoria has been missing.” The kitchen, which is open Sunday through Thursday from 11am to 11pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11am to 2am, features dishes from various countries and regions, including Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Ecuador and Mexico. Acento is also planning on hosting live music in the near future, and come warmer weather, they’ll have outdoor seating and DJ sets, too. Check out Acento Latin Kitchen & Bar if you’re looking for a sampling of various Latin cuisines, and check out their fruity, tropical cocktail selection, as well.
