Find Unexpected Treasures At These Astoria Thrift Shops

If you’re in the market for some new clothes, new furniture, or maybe an interesting gift, things can easily get expensive. And fast. Luckily, there are plenty of treasures out there just waiting for you, and even better? They’re usually a fraction of their original retail cost. Astoria and LIC are full of great thrift shops full of all kinds of treasures, from hip vintage clothing to classic dishware. Here’s a selection of some of our favorites.

Hour Children

Hour Children provides personalized services to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their families reintegrate into society. To help fund their work, they operate two thrift shops, one on Steinway and one in LIC, which offer clothing, household items, vintage and antique furniture, and children’s items. Their inventory changes quickly, so check in to see what they have. At certain times, they will not accept donations or certain kinds of items, so check in if you’re considering donating.

Ditmars Thrift Shop

Ditmars Thrift Shop is a great place to find…well, a lot. There’s clothing for men, women, and kids, as well as jewelry, music, books, smaller household items, china and glassware, and more. This packed shop has a lot, and if you’re willing to spend a little time digging, you can walk out with something pretty great. They also accept donations.

Unique Boutique

Customers on Yelp love the variety as well as the organization of Unique Boutique on Steinway, which stocks well-known, tried-and-true brands like L.L. Bean, H&M, Express, Gap, and more for fractions of the retail prices. There’s only one dressing room, but it’s worth a stop in, anyway.

SavageHall Thrift

SavageHall Thrift doesn’t have a brick-and-mortar location, but rather can be found at pop-ups and flea markets. Check out their selection of curated and edited vintage fashions on Instagram, and drop them a line if something catches your fancy.

 

LoveDay 31

LoveDay 31 is a small vintage boutique full of women’s fashions from a variety of eras and in a variety of styles, but all of which are sure to be on-trend. It’s a great place to find a signature statement piece at a reasonable price. There are also frequent sales (check their Instagram) and they’re always getting great new things in stock.

Buffalo Exchange

Like LoveDay, Buffalo Exchange has a more curated selection of clothing, and their style tends to skew a bit younger. It’s a great place for both casual and work clothing, as well as shoes and accessories from well-known, trendy brands. A small section is dedicated to vintage fashions, as well. Their merchandise turns over quickly and stays in-season, so it’s worth checking in on frequently if you’re in the market for something.
