Astoria and LIC are full of great thrift shops full of all kinds of treasures, from hip vintage clothing to classic dishware. Here’s a selection of some of our favorites. And besides finding yourself some great items at great prices, thrift shops are also great ways to unload gently used items and make sure they go to a good home. Please contact the locations for donation and consignment details. Hour Children Hour Children provides personalized services to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their families reintegrate into society. To help fund their work, they operate two thrift shops, one on Steinway and one in LIC, which offer clothing, household items, vintage and antique furniture, and children’s items. Check out their selection of curated and edited vintage fashions on Instagram, and drop them a line if something catches your fancy. LoveDay 31 Yelp photo via Saori E. LoveDay 31 is a small vintage boutique full of women’s fashions from a variety of eras and in a variety of styles, but all of which are sure to be on-trend. It’s a great place to find a signature statement piece at a reasonable price. There are also frequent sales (check their Instagram) and they’re always getting great new things in stock. LoveDay 31 33-06 31st Ave., Astoria 718.728.4057 Facebook | Instagram Buffalo Exchange Like LoveDay, Buffalo Exchange has a more curated selection of clothing, and their style tends to skew a bit younger. It’s a great place for both casual and work clothing, as well as shoes and accessories from well-known, trendy brands. A small section is dedicated to vintage fashions, as well. Their merchandise turns over quickly and stays in-season, so it’s worth checking in on frequently if you’re in the market for something.
