Barbecue restaurant Salt & Bone closed yesterday. Despite being voted a favorite newcomer in 2018, it seems they’ve shut their doors for good — but will be returning in a new form, according to their press release.

The location on 30th Ave and Newtown used to be the site of Burnside Biscuits, another Bareburger-owned venture.

Right now, the Instagram and Facebook accounts has changed to reflect the name Bare Bone Weekend, which will be a catering-only concept that merges the barbecue of Salt & Bone with the burgers of Bareburger. Also in the mix will be the vegan comfort food from 7 Day Weekend, hence the name that combines all three.

“With Bareburger we’ve always made sure guests were able to eat with their friends at the same table regardless of allergies or dietary preferences,” explains CEO Euripides Pelekanos. “Bare Bone Weekend will do the same while offering a better variety of options.”

Right now, the “ghost kitchen” space in LIC is operating, so you can still order food online. Like most of you, we’re certainly interested to see what becomes of the 30th Avenue space, and we’ll be keeping an eye on the developments!

Guess the Yelp strategy of sexual assault threats using sausage did not work out for them.

Too bad.

This is embarrassing. Can we please get something other than another redundant restaurant in this neighborhood?

Because they don’t deliver to all of Astoria (yet). The Ditmars area is out of luck. Thanks for nothing, BBW.

Catering only? Waste of prime real estate space. Bad for neighborhood. Horrible use of the space.

As far as we know, the catering will operate from the LIC kitchen location. We’re not sure what’s happening with the 30th Ave spot yet, but it IS a great space!

Yes, the location of the ill-fated 30th Ave triangle is to blame, not another poor concept run by the same douchebags who have so much money to burn that they can go through not one, not two, but THREE (failed) business concepts in about as many years. GROSS.
