The address of 38-01 Ditmars Blvd has been the home to myriad businesses over the past decade—multiple cell phone stores, Rosario’s Pizza and Grano’s Pizza (both terrible), and most recently Vogue Lounge, a place that blasted music late into the night and was the origin of many drunken fights. It aggravated the locals—they hated it. The good news is that they are closed; the location soon will be home to Jack Jones Bar, a self-described, “Irish Gastropub.”

Their website says they will offer “localy [sic] sourced farm to table menu, small batch cocktails & rotating craft beers.” It also sounds like they will have a little Irish market— an siopa beag (the small grocery)—where they will sell “household items” and pantry goods (perhaps similar to that The Wolfhound does, another Irish bar).

The logo and related artwork were designed by artist KUBIK. You can get to know the owner, Jerry, via his Instagram at @jfoleyshow. As to their opening, the best we can come up with is this comment from the bar a day ago: “All Jack Jones info will be revealed incoming days.” They did recently have their 500 foot hearing, so I’m sure they are happy to have that out of the way, and it likely means good news for cocktail and mixed-drink loving Astorians; the people behind Jack Jones are also pretty proud of their Guinness pour, too.

We will be curious to see how Jack Jones Bar fits into the neighborhood at this location that has caused so much drama in this section of Astoria. We send every good wish to Jerry and his crew as they head toward their opening!

You’re welcome. I represented the landlord for this transaction and Jerry and crew had a fantastic broker on their side. No mention they already own and operate a location in Woodside. Nice to see more Irish spots coming back to the neighborhood
