A Brazilian churrascuria and a new juice bar are the newest additions to Astoria’s food scene.

A couple of new food spots in Astoria have caught our attention, and yes, they are about barbecue and juice. First is a new barbecue spot… Brazilian barbecue, that is. Rio Grande Brazilian Steak House, a churrascaria, which means a meatopia wonderland for Astoria’s omnivores (I’m fond of pretty much anything bacon-wrapped at a churrascaria).

They’ll be on the corner of Broadway and 37th Street. They are actually the sister restaurant to the location in LIC in the bottom of the Holiday Inn on 39th Ave and 29th Street. Here’s their Yelp page, and they and were profiled in the NY Daily News in 2013. We expect this could be a good place to watch the Rio Olympics in August.

Next on our list is a second location of Fusion Juice Bar. We visited their original location in Feb 2015 and I remember liking the açai bowl quite a bit.

Its location is 34-02 36th Street, in the old 36th Ave Coffee Shop location, which never seemed to be open when I passed by in all my years in Astoria (perhaps it was just open very early). It’s located next to 36th Ave institution Veronica’s Bar, which makes for an interesting contrast.
