New Sweets Shop Opening on 34th Ave

While walking home from MOMI the other day, I turned down 34th Ave and came across a papered up storefront, which, of course, for me is a like a moth to a flame regarding my curiosity. The door opened and three women came out and I asked them what was going on. Turns out the space is going to be a kind of sweets shop—pastries, coffee, and gelato from Mia Gelato. Hopefully it will be a nice place to stop in post-movies at MOMI or Kaufman, too.

It will be nice to have a place like this in that space. The last legit business in that location—in my memory—was the framing shop that was there in the mid-2000s. After that a sketchy clothing store arrived, and one of those questionable acupuncture/massage spots was in there recently. The ladies behind the new sweets spot will no doubt bring something lovely to the area.

They hope to be open in about a month.
