When you think about Sanfords on Broadway, what comes to mind?
Until recently, they were primarily known for two things: a stellar brunch, and satisfying, upscale diner food. After their recent remodel, they still have that comfortable feel, but they’ve also become more of a nightlife destination. Sexy cocktails (LOTS of whiskey) and a special occasion-worthy menu have made the veteran spot a go-to spot for an evening of drinks and bites.

I spoke with Jason, the bar manager at Sanfords, and here are a few things to be excited about:
Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey
The big news at Sanfords is the focus on whiskey. They have over 370 varieties available, by far the largest in Queens and among the most impressive in all of NYC. They’re developing a list of both classic and innovative cocktails that will offer a little something for everyone. They’ll be starting out with an arsenal of ten, and will eventually work up to twenty-five. The iconic Manhattan will always be available!
Events
As we mentioned, whiskey is king at Sanfords. The spirit connoisseurs behind the bar will soon be offering whiskey classes to share their expertise with Astorians hoping to recreate their mastery at home. Also, there’s a Kentucky Derby party in the works this spring, so get your best dress and fancy hat (or fascinator!) ready.
“Bubble Trouble” and Other Specials
For those who enjoy a little champagne, you’re in luck. Sanfords is developing a champagne focus, and will eventually offer a “Bubble Trouble” special. If you’ve walked by recently, you’ve probably noticed a sign for their hard-to-pass-up Happy Hour special that features dollar oysters, $6 wines, and $6 bourbons from 4-7pm. As someone who works until 7pm in Manhattan, missing this every weeknight makes me VERY sad, but I’m happy for the Astorians that are able to enjoy such a fun deal! Industry special nights for folks who work in hospitality are also in the works, so keep an eye out.

Lots of Deliciousness on the Menu
You may have noticed lately that the nighttime menu at Sanfords is moving delightfully upscale. There’s a new focus on steak, enhancing the special occasion vibe. The kitchen will slowly introduce exciting new specials, with the most crowd-pleasing among them eventually making their way to the full-time menu. But fear not! The most popular dishes that you’ve loved at Sanford’s for ages aren’t going anywhere.

Would be nice if they can turn it into a nightclub after 11pm. Food , booze but no place to shake those hips :(
the last thing that stretch needs is a nightclub. Head on down to the shady sections of Steinway to get your ghetto on, this isn’t the area to pull deeper into that nonsense.
Kate seriously? ‘to get your ghetto on’ you’re a sad person who probably has a terrible sex life. good luck in your dance-less sexless sad life.
