Mighty Balls Opens Tomorrow!

You guys- much anticipated Mighty Balls is opening tomorrow (Saturday, July 18th at 11am, to be exact) and we have the inside scoop! Get excited for some pretty awesome meatball action.

Located on an unexpected block on 34th Avenue, Mighty Balls will be serving up gourmet meatballs, tasty sides, and to-go portions of their famous sauces. The company started out at Hester Street Market and now can be found at Mad Square Eats and the Union Square Holiday Markets- just to name a few. They’ve spent years perfecting their menu, and were drawn to Astoria’s approachable, interesting food scene.  We’re excited to try their mix-and-match concept which lets you pair your favorite meat (or veg friendly!) ball with the sauce and toppings of your choice. We’ve also been told they use organic items whenever possible.

A few note worthy ball combos:

• Great Big Balls of Fire- a pork ball with spicy jalapeno jelly & feta. The owners tell me this is their best seller!
• Owner Kerri loves the “Sexy African” a savory zucchini & lentil patty smothered in African sauce and parmesan cheese. (I’m listening…)
• New for their brick & mortar location will be their gluten free and vegan balls, made from plantains and black beans.
• Standout sides include pimento mac & cheese and pickled eggs.

For now their hours are 11am to 11pm, daily. Delivery won’t start up for a few weeks, so plan to dine-in or take-out your balls. Beer and wine are forthcoming.
