Dance Hawkins-Based Modern Technique with Valerie Green

This modern technique class is influenced by the Erick Hawkins modern dance technique. The principles emphasized in this class are universally beneficial to dance training and include using the power of the center to initiate, control, and radiate movement, plus pelvis initiation, and the use of under and over curves.

IRON CROWS / Bangladesh

Astoria Park: Track and Field for Kids

City Parks Track & Field gives New York City kids the chance to learn the basics of the sport, from hurdles and relay races to long jump, shot put and javelin throw. The program is open to boys and girls ages 5-16 and runs each July and August in parks throughout the five boroughs.

Idlewild Magazine Launch Party

Idlewild Magazine will be launching issue no. 3 on Saturday, July 25th at the The Bonnie starting at 8 pm. Keep the party going at the Sparrow from midnight on with music from DJ Sambarella. Astoria Music & Arts Fundraiser

The folks behind Astoria Music & Arts are having a busy summer! They’re currently hard at work planning their 7th annual New World Queens Fest, and decided to kick fundraising off with an exciting event this Saturday. Live entertainment includes burlesque comedy, punk rock, metal and hip-hop.
