Summer is officially here, and so is the heat. Whether or not you’re blessed with an AC unit, there are moments where you just need to escape your stuffy apartment and head for cooler temperatures.

We’ve done the dirty work and rounded up our favorite places to hang to cool off (share places we missed in the comments!).

The qualifiers? These are all places you can spend more than an hour or two and have a good amount of seating. Most of them are also pretty cool places in general, and have things to do, eat, or see as you enjoy a few sweat-free hours of air-conditioned joy.

I’m pretty sure I took that photo of NYC Bagel. Did you get it off their website?

Hey, this has nothing do do with this article but have you heard any rumors of a bar opening at the corner of 45th street and 23rd ave? Its real industrial looking but I’ve walked by several times on the weekend when the bay door is open and there is a bar with tap handles being built and it appears to being converted to a bar.

I’ve tried to snap a photo but every time they’re working on it my hands are full.
