One of my personal favorite Astoria events, Pork Fest is back this year at the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden.  Given my Eastern European heritage, it’s no wonder that I look forward to this meaty event that honors everything we meat eaters love about the pig.  Feast your eyes on some of the menu items that will be featured during the festivities.  *Disclaimer – lots of these are not for the faint of heart, but speaking from personal experience, those who appreciate pork will love it!

Sample of Appetizers
Pork & barley soup
Porkfest sauerkraut soup (recommended)
Steamed pork head with horseradish

Sample of Entrees
Breaded pork cutlet with mashed potatoes & pickles (recommended)
White sausage with mashed potatoes & sauerkraut
White or dark pork barley casserole with mashed potatoes & sauerkraut
Homemade steamed klobasa with mustard, horseradish, & rye bread (recommended)

Sample of Dessert (not made of pork ;))
Apple strudel
Poppy strudel (recommended)
Homemade European donuts

The festivities start on Friday, February 6th and last through the weekend.  We hope you can join in the fun.
