Better late than never. More about the awards: The Awards will honor five local libraries in New York City for providing exceptional service to their communities. Each winning branch will receive $20,000, the largest cash prize awarded directly to branch libraries in the country. The theme of the 2014 awards is literacy and the critical role libraries play in supporting lifelong readers. Personally, libraries were hugely important to me as a kid; my life was certainly bettered by having access to them. Here are the questions accompanying your nomination: How do you use your neighborhood library? Why are these library services important to you? Tell us about your community and what your neighborhood library does for people in your community. Why should your library win an NYC Neighborhood Library Award? What book did you love so much that it made you want to go to your library and take out another? You can nominate your library here. It’s available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Hatian Creole. Now let’s get to nominating!
