The good folks at 60 Beans let everyone know they were opening this morning, so we decided to check it out. We showed you details of the space about a month or so ago, and the whole space just looks so nice. there’s lots of wood, marble, leather, and tile, all making for a beautiful space. There’s also some seating outside, right up against the wall.

While I was there, people kept coming in, some just curious and looking but plenty stopping in to get a coffee and/or pastry. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they are offering a selection of Dough donuts—I tried a chocolate covered one and it was delicious. I noticed there were pecan sticky buns and a variety of croissants, some from Balthazar and some from Ceci Cela.

I tried a cold brew coffee, which they have on tap, and it was very good (you can also get iced espresso drinks). Looking at the menu, I had to ask what a Gibraltar is (my first thought was it was something of Spanish origin) and the affable barista told me it’s half espresso, half milk, served warm, “like a cortado.” Upon further research I learned that in the US they often call a cortado a Gibraltar (it’s served in a glass called a Gibraltar). Love learning about this stuff!

They also serve a selection of teas, and today’s were Assam, Masala Chai, Gyokuro, Hojicha, Blood Orange, and Apricot. From this list, it looks like they offer black and green teas as well as herbal.

Also—they have a punch card (buy 9 drinks, get the 10th free) and today they are double punching the card in honor of their grand opening!

So here are a few shots from the opening morning at 60 Beans. Here’s the front area with stools, looking out onto Ditmars.

Overall, we think this is a wonderful addition to the Ditmars food scene and we look forward to our next visit. Welcome to the neighborhood, 60 Beans!
