In honor of the major hotness we’re experiencing right now, we thought to dedicate this week’s Food Talk to some of the more cooling eats and drinks out there:

Our friend Sue recently wrote about the yummies found at LIC’s Dutch Kills bar and Blissful Kitchen. Among these is their highly recommended Moscow Mule cocktail.  Cheers! 27-24 Jackson Avenue, LIC. 718.383.2724

During steamy times like these, we can always turn to delicious ice cream such as at Sweet Jane’s.  Word is they’ve added a few new flavors to their menu such as coffee, cappucino kahlua, Rocky Road and Damoson Plum Sorbet among others.  27-17 24th Avenue, Astoria. 347.848.0292

What goes better with a delicious crusty pizza than an ice cold beer? Enjoy Tuffino’s offering of icy Captain Lawrence IPA with their crackly pies!  36-08 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria. 718.278.4800

Delicious iced coffee.

For your thirst quenching pleasure, I’ve compiled a list of cooling concoctions including iced coffee and tea, boozy creations and more!

Even though it’s not technically in Astoria, we want to give big props to Pecas Y Mas for their stupendous cholados (pictured above), which are a fabulous combination of milk, ice, juice and fruit.  Think of it as a cross between a fruit salad and a smoothie.  44-20 Greenpoint Avenue, Sunnyside. 718.389.4443
