After the polar vortex last week, I’m glad we’re past the bare bones survival, get-warm-fast ideas.  Now it’s really time to feast and there’s a lot of fun things going on in Astoria to help you do that.

BareBurger-2[1]You may have heard that the original BareBurger on 31st Avenue got quite the sprucer upper last week, now boasting a full bar, dine in and delivery service.  I’ve always loved hanging out here, and can’t wait to see what the new enhancements do for their business.  Tell us what you think about it, Astoria!  33-21 31st Avenue, Astoria.  718.777.7011

enthaice-red-curryJust across the street from BareBurger is Enthaice, which Emily and I had the pleasure of visiting last week.  We loved the intimate space, attentive service and delicious curry dishes we devoured.  They also have a good selection of wines and cocktails, which are priced well.  33-20 31st Avenue, Astoria.  718.932.1111

BIG news on the gluten free scene in Astoria – New York City Bagel & Coffee House is now serving gluten free bagels and wraps.  Has anyone tried them yet?  29-08 23rd Avenue, Astoria.  718.728.9500

singlecut-19-33-lagrr-katch-astoria-queensWe heart that SingleCut is bringing back their female only beer seminars, starting on January 30th.  Prost ladies!  Sign up for the seminar.  19-33 37th Street, Astoria.  718.606.0788

shrimp-mofongo-off-the-hookOver at We Heart Astoria, we love our seafood dishes and recently had the pleasure to visit Off the Hook Oyster Bar.  A few standouts come to mind, including their grilled oysters, dressed with the most heavenly garlic sauce; the shrimp mofongo; and the mussels in marrow broth.  28-08 34th Street, Astoria.  718.721.2112

interior alobarHave you noticed the exciting things percolating over at Alobar? I personally love stalking their Instagram and learning about the different whiskeys they serve each night.  The most recent ones have been the Whippersnapper, the Koval single barrel, and the Corsair Triple Smoke.  Whiskey heads, advise!  46-42 Vernon Blvd, LIC.  718.752.6000

That glass of beer is the shortest pour I’ve ever seen. You should have sent that back and told them you want a full glass of beer.

New York City Bagel Coffee House is quite the mouthful. One of the worst signs I’ve seen in Astoria, and that’s saying something.

Bareburger’s delivery service has really deteriorated recently. I live 4 blocks away and the last few times I’ve ordered delivery it’s taken over an hour or not come at all. Still love the restaurant so now I only do pick-up orders.
