After much of the food momentum we’ve gained during Thanksgiving week, there’s no doubt a lot going on in our local food circles.  Restaurants are creating holiday menus, special events even jingles!

As part of their Rock ‘n Ribs Wednesday special, Ovelia is offering a “wimp portion” with 3 ribs plus 2 sides and cornbread for $11.95.  Rock out with that!  34-01 30th Avenue, Astoria.  718.721.7217

There was some great press for our dear Queens Kickshaw and The Astor Room, featured in yesterday’s The Daily Meal article about “Where to Eat at NYC’s Transit Hubs.”

This is just for fun, but we’ve been enjoying the on-going BareBurger jingle contest, which is now in the evaluation stage.  Take a look at these two creative jingles that have been submitted.  We heart both! What do you think?

There’s been some chatter about the recently opened smokehouse called The Strand on Broadway. The space is impressive and we were delighted to read a recent review of it by our friend, Bradley Hawks. As always, his photos are tantalizing. 25-25 Broadway, Astoria. 718.545.2120

Back by popular demand,  Queens Kickshaw will be hosting the 2nd Woks and Lox event on Christmas eve, which is a celebration both of Jewish and Chinese heritage – in the most fun and wacky way.  Buy your tickets here.

As we’re officially in the holiday season now, restaurants are starting up with their special food and drink menus.  Check out Pachanga Patterson’s classic Churchill cocktail as well as Vesta’s seasonal Feast of the Seven Fishes.  Pachanga Patterson – 33-17 31st Avenue, Astoria.  718.554.0525.  Vesta – 21-02 30th Avenue, Astoria.  718.545.5550
