I’m particularly fond of the fountain. Mojave is, of course, the Southwestern/Latin restaurant on 31st Street by the Ditmars subway stop. I don’t know if you remember it, but before it was Mojave that space was home to a number of places that served unremarkable food – burgers, wings – and even before that it was home to Burger King (I think). Mojave is a welcome change. So about the back patio – it’s quite spacious, and I always feel transported to some extent. It’s nice to sit back there with a cocktail and just chill out. I recently ordered the “Latin Passion” cocktail and thought it was excellent. Like, “I could drink 5 of these” excellent. Just delicious. And look how pretty it is. It’s made with tequila, something called Liquor 43, lime and passionfruit juices. I asked for it “less sweet” and it was perfect. Mmm… I’m also glad they’ve figured out their guacamole appetizer – it used to come in a fried flour tortilla bowl thing with sour cream and pico de gallo accompanying it. Now it comes in a blue corn chip bowl and it’s filled completely with guac. Nice. I look forward to returning soon, especially while the weather is still pleasant.
