Over the weekend I was going through my unedited photos and came across a series of shots I took about a month ago of the murals in Western Astoria. Have you seen them? They are pretty amazing and well worth a trip west of 21st Street. Many of them are part of the Welling Court Mural Project, which was written up earlier this year in the Queens Gazette.

As far as their location, the murals start right across from Two Coves Community Garden on Astoria Blvd, curve around onto 30th Ave and then turn right on Welling Court.

A great time, actually, would be to go check out the murals in the morning, then head either to Socrates Sculpture Park for the Greenmarket, or back to 21st Street for a relaxing time at Club 21 or a filling meal at Roti Boti. Vesta is also within walking distance.

Here are some of my favorite images from that photowalk:

Thanks for recording these. I just moved to NYC / Astoria and found them during one of my wanderings-around the neighbourhood. Was (am!) so happy to see such talent displayed.

I love them – I knew there were some out there, but was astonished to see so many. Definitely worth a trip to check them out in person!
