Today’s giveaway is from the newest kid on the block, so to speak, Creator’s Co-op! This fun and innovative shop carries the work of various local artists in a cooperative format. Last time I was in, there were handmade necklaces of recycled glass, children’s tutus, original paintings and lots more to love. There are geeky gifts and organic bath and body products, noir-ish baby clothes and Japaneese inspired pin cushion rings.

Today we’re thrilled to be able to give you the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to this creative little shop. Just tell us why you like to buy local or handmade and we’ll enter you to win. For me, there is simply nothing that can come close to a well designed handmade object.

there are too many reasons for one post, but a big one is supporting local artisans so they can make a living doing what they love. isn’t that what we all want?

I like to give people local goods that everyone else will see and want, but cannot just stroll into any old store and get.

I love to show off Astoria’s talent and diversity through local gifts!

I like the ability to talk to the people who make the items. I bought some shower gel from the Little Soap Shop and the owner was nice enough to make a batch for me right then since the scent I wanted wasn’t in stock. And it’s fun to be able to purchase some “Astoria- only” unique items for my California friends and family!

I like to buy local because of the variety available to me–it’s better than any superstore. ;-)
