Welcome back to another edition of Astoria Interiors, a series where we go inside neighborhood homes to showcase design on the most local level. Today we head inside a colorful 2BR on 35th Ave, where two creatives have detailed each room with quirky touches and eclectic finds. We love how this couple balances calming neutrals with bold patterns throughout their space–and we’re dreaming of a WeHeart x Jenny Chang collab in hopes that we can step into this creative studio.

Remember, if you’d like to submit your home, please send a selection of six well-lit photos (including captions!) and a series of responses to these questions. All types of homes are welcome and encouraged. Send your submission to dore.anna@gmail.com with “Astoria Interiors” in the subject line. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Tell us a bit about you and your Astoria apartment:

My name is Jenny, and my husband and I are both artists/creatives who’ve been Queens residents FOREVER. (My husband was born and raised). We’ve always loved Astoria, and were  so thrilled to finally move here last winter! It’s a cozy 2-bedroom, 1 block from the R/M which was a godsend on its own.

Describe your design aesthetic in 5 words or less

Artsy, cozy, eclectic, comfortable and fun.

Our bedroom. We accidentally ended up choosing this paint color which was much darker than our original choice but just rolled with it.

A close up of some of the things on our dresser, We love having fresh flowers in the house.

What’s your favorite room and why?

Our joint studio space. It’s been great to dedicate a whole room for our art, and it’s a place where we can collaborate.

Most prized piece?

Our CB2 Leather Couch, it was hard finding a compact, low to the ground couch for our small space, but when we saw this couch it was definitely love at first sight.

What part of your home are you most proud of?

Our Living room. I feel this room is most “us” and has so many elements of our personality and really represents a collection of our life together.

The best representation of us in the apartment.

Favorite local element?

Just the convenience of everything! We love having a go-to coffee, bagel, pizza, bodega, you-name-it spot all within a block of us.

Our small but light-filled bathroom.
