Facebook / MTA NYC Transit Earlier this month, the MTA released the first drafts of the new and improved Queens Bus Network, a redesign of bus routes that haven’t been touched in a century, when Queens was a much different borough. They had called for public feedback on the dense report online here and at public meetings–and Queens residents came out. The MTA said that the amount of submitted public feedback on the Queens Network Redesign exceeded every other borough when they were going through their redesign process. Because of that, they have added even more opportunities for the public’s involvement. The upcoming public forums are listed below, and are marked with asterisks if they were newly added. It is also noted whether they are formal presentations or “drop-ins” for feedback. While the nearest one was in Long Island City, taking place tomorrow, February 4, there was one added right on Ditmars Blvd. in Astoria for next Thursday, February 13. They say these new outreach dates will help “touch nearly every community in Queens.” *Monday, Feb. 3, 6 p.m. (presentation with U.S. Rep. Following all of the workshops, the MTA will incorporate all of collected feedback into a proposed final plan for the Queens Bus Network Redesign. That will be released in 2020, with “additional community outreach events scheduled to solicit a final round of public feedback as well as a public hearing.” The final plan must also be approved by the MTA Board before implementation.
