Get ready for the next Participatory Budgeting cycle! We are right at the start of this year’s process, which begins with Neighborhood Assemblies. These are meetings where all residents (ages 14+) get together and brainstorm ideas on how to spend $1 million on capital projects in the community. It’s a great chance to be a decider in what benefits the community and is a fantastic opportunity for civic engagement.
These meetings are open to all. So save the date, mark you calendars, and get excited! Here’s where the Neighborhood Assemblies will take place:
- September 7—Cretans Association, 32-33 31st Street
- September 14—Lexington School for the Deaf, 25-26 75th Street
- September 21—Astoria Houses, 4-05 Astoria Blvd
- September 28—Bohemian Hall, 29-19 24th Avenue
All meetings start at 7pm.
So tell us—what kind of things would you like to see funded in Astoria? Leave us a comment—we’d love to hear what you think would be good for the neighborhood.
