Klassical Music: Spotlight on Keyboards

Through photos, sound recordings, & videos, organist & harpsichordist Nancy Kito presents a brief overview of the keyboard instruments of classical music, all in a non-stuffy, non-intimidating atmosphere.

You’ve SEEN a piano but what the heck is a harpsichord? (you know, that thing Lurch plays) and how does a pipe organ differ from a piano (and did you know that it’s not just a church instrument?).

Other burning questions such as “why do organists wear funny shoes?” and “what’s the difference between a harp and a harpsichord?” will be addressed.

Schedule permitting, an off-site visit to see an actual pipe organ in person (2 blocks away) will end this informal talk.
