SUMMARY:Klassical Music: Spotlight on Keyboards
DESCRIPTION:Through photos\, sound recordings\, & videos\, organist & harpsichordist Nancy Kito presents a brief overview of the keyboard instruments of classical music\, all in a non-stuffy\, non-intimidating atmosphere. \nYou’ve SEEN a piano but what the heck is a harpsichord? (you know\, that thing Lurch plays) and how does a pipe organ differ from a piano (and did you know that it’s not just a church instrument?). \nOther burning questions such as “why do organists wear funny shoes?” and “what’s the difference between a harp and a harpsichord?” will be addressed. \nSchedule permitting\, an off-site visit to see an actual pipe organ in person (2 blocks away) will end this informal talk. \n
