Happy National Kale Day, everyone! Here at We Heart Astoria, we are big fans of kale—salads, kale chips, sauteed, in pies, it’s all good. Astoria has some great kale options and we thought we’d show some of them off.
The Queens Kickshaw has had a kale salad on their menu for a while now. With the impending menu change, we hope it stays! It is made from two kinds of kale source from Brooklyn Grange, toasted hazelnuts, apple, lemon-parm vinaigrette, and a little marmalade.

Mar’s also makes a fabulous kale salad—in fact, Mackenzi and I just had it the other day! It has toasted Marcona almonds, chunks of avocado, sliced pickled egg, small cubes of ricotta salata, and lemon and olive oil.

Sweet Afton also makes a kickass kale salad, this one a cobb salad (they’ve done a Caesar salad with kale before, too). Sadly, we do not have a photo since it’s always been too dark to take a decent one. But let us assure you, it’s fantastic.
Ginger makes their own kale chips!

Mackenzi recommends the Kale pie at Milkflower.
We also want to send a shout out to Astorian Tamara Reynolds who teaches us how to make a simple kale salad, originally published on Lifetime Moms.
So how about you—are you a kale fan? Are there kale dishes in town that we should know about? Leave us a comment or a tweet with the details!
Vesta often has a great kale pizza, although I’m pretty sure it’s off their menu right now. Too bad. I’m a big fan though!
