The Bel Aire Diner On 21st St. Is Now Hosting Drive-In Movie Nights

We’re returning to the drive-in move era!

The Bel-Aire Diner at 31-91 21st St. has been hosting socially distant drive-in movie nights in their parking lot off Broadway.

They kicked things off with the classic John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John musical “Grease,” and due to its popularity, brought it back on Wednesday, May 13 with “Dirty Dancing.” Their next one is a showing of “The Sandlot” this Saturday, May 16. Now, instead of reserving a spot on Instagram, they have asked you to purchase the tickets directly from their website here. The tickets will go on sale tonight at 6pm.

They asked for $20 to hold your spot, which includes half a credit toward food (yes, they have themed food) and half towards a luncheon they will throw for the local 114th precinct.

Here are some of their guidelines (as posted on Instagram) if you’re wondering about safety:

• Please be safe! Follow social distancing guidelines at all times! Only leave your car to use the bathroom, and wear a mask when you do so. No one will be permitted to watch the movie outside their car.
• Turn your car off! Save the environment. Please keep your vehicle off once you have parked until it is time to leave.
• Be Respectful Play only the movie on your FM Radio. Keep smoking of any kind to a minimum! Do not LITTER. You will be provided with a shopping bag for any trash. Please place it on the ground near the driver’s side door and a Bel Aire employee will pick it up and provide you with another one.
• To order any food or drinks: Just like the regular movies, NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK WILL BE PERMITTED! CREDIT CARDS will NOT BE ACCEPTED! We will only be accepting cash or orders placed through our app or website (See QR Codes). Please input your car’s color and license when placing an order. We will deliver it to you.
• In case of any emergency Please flash us your high beams and we will do our best to assist.
• Enjoy yourselves! This is a trying time for all of us. Help us make this a successful and fun event so we may continue to have ones in the future. Thank you for coming and enjoy the movie!
