Wow, have we been waiting for this news for a while.

LIC Post just reported that, according to their real estate broker sources, a Trader Joe’s will be coming to Long Island City. They say that a lease has been signed for the space at 22-43 Jackson Ave (across the street from MoMA PS1) and the store will be opening in late 2020.

The entire building is apparently still under construction and will open next year.

Trader Joe’s has not officially confirmed or denied this information, but we’re guessing an announcement isn’t too far behind (they did announce an East Village location earlier this year). And it won’t stop the rest of us from dreaming of only being 10 minutes away from cookie butter, cauliflower gnocchi and Everything But the Bagel Seasoning.

In other openings/closings/rumors news:

Chipotle on Steinway: Yes, we know how frustrated everyone is that the date keeps getting pushed. All we can do is keep reporting what they’re telling us. As of now, they’re calling a December opening. But we’re with you — we probably won’t believe it until we see it…

La Mian Lounge: A new spot called La Mian Lounge is opening on Broadway next to Bund. Apparently ‘la mian’ or ‘lamian’ is a type of Chinese hand-pulled noodle, which sounds very promising.

Love Caffe AstoriaIf you’ve missed all that bright beautiful fruit and pumping music on your walk to the subway, have no fear, Love Caffe just let us know they are back up and running.

The Grind NYC: The former Bakeway space now has new signage for “The Grind NYC.” Perhaps a new coffee joint from The Strand owners?
