5 Fun Weekly Events at Local Breweries This Fall

If you’re looking for a change from your regular trivia league at the local bar, Astoria and LIC’s breweries are upping their weekly events game! From music for all tastes, to food specials and deals, you might want to shake up your weekly routine with a trip to one of our local brewers…

Funky Fridays at ICONYC Brewing

This one is technically biweekly, but get ready to boogie your heart out at Funky Fridays every other Friday at ICONYC Brewery and Beer Garden in LIC (they closed their Astoria location). Take your sparky jumpsuit out and get ready to dance the night away to funky, soulful disco party jams with DJ Crayola Danger and friends — disco ball included. The night starts with live band funk sets from 7 to 9 p.m., and finishes off with a vinyl dance party until the last person leaves the floor! Here are the upcoming dates:

Beer Brunch at SingleCut

Dump your mimosa out and try beer with brunch at SingleCut every Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m. Choose from a menu of: Grilled Ham and Cheese Waffle ($12), BBQ Pulled Pork Waffle Sandwich ($15), Avocado Toast with Cherry Tomatoes and Balsamic Glaze ($12), and Carnitas Avocado Toast ($15). Then, wash it all down with 32oz $10 Beer Carafes of Plain Top Pilsner, Jan White Lager or 18-Watt IPA.

Beers for Ears at Fifth Hammer

Every Wednesday (so, tomorrow!), Fifth Hammer Brewing hosts “Beers for Ears.” During this musical event, Fifth Hammer “Saxabrewer” Chris Cuzme plays live, improvised tunes inspired entirely by the beers on draught and people in the room! Along with some other local musicians, of course.

Taco & Trivia Tuesdays at Alewife

Trivia kicks off at 8 p.m. every Tuesday with NYC Trivia League at Alewife Brewpub. Along with taco specials ($1 off all tacos and a $14 beer-and-tacos happy hour deal), you’re all set to break up the week with some friendly competition.

Plus, winners get up to $75 off their tab, 2nd place get $25 off their tab, and 3rd place gets some beer swag!

Songs & Shenanigans / Bluegrass & Beers at Big aLICe

Big aLICe originated in LIC (can you tell by the name?), but opened a much larger barrel room and taproom in Industry City, Brooklyn this year. You’ll have to make the trek across boroughs since they’re holding most of the events in the larger space, but why not get out of the neighborhood for the night? At least it’s near the N/R train!

On Saturdays from 3 to 7 p.m., they host Songs & Shenanigans featuring traditional Irish music. Bluegrass & Beers is every other Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. (it will be this week, Nov. 13).
