Right now, we’re seeing businesses opening, closing, renovating, and more. Here’s a roundup of the shifts happening on all the major avenues in the neighborhood. Broadway Via dei Greci Look closely and you’ll be able to see the reflection of Amylos, across the street. Via dei Greci is currently undergoing renovations, but, according to their sign, they’ll be reopening soon and offering the same pizzas, coffees, and frozen yogurts. It looks like their website is under renovations, too. Via dei Greci 33-18 Broadway, Astoria 718.255.6293 Amylos The former Uncle George’s, which will open as Amylos soon.Yelp photo via Luke S. Amylos, owned by the same folks behind Omonia Cafe, is still in the works on Broadway in the space formerly occupied by Uncle George’s, which closed in 2013. Amylos plans to be another Greek restaurant similar to Uncle George’s, but more upscale. As of this article, Amylos is slated to open December 17 right across the street from Via dei Greci. Amylos 33-19 Broadway, Astoria 718.215.0228 Ditmars California Farmers Market Yelp photo via Sophie A. California Farmers Market, just up from the Ditmars Boulevard station, is sadly closing its doors. After clearing out its inventory and selling it off for half price, it looks like the grocery store will be shuttered. No news as to what might move in, but we’ll keep you posted (and this WHA writer will miss it!). Ninos AQ Instagram photo via ninosaq Nino’s AQ has opened after much anticipation, and is serving up modern takes on Italian fare, as well as plenty of gluten-free pasta options and cocktails, and people seem to be really enjoying it! Stop in to see what’s on the menu. It’s a great spot for a slightly fancier night out. Nino’s AQ 35-01 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria Instagram Steinway Long Island City Kleaners Now open on Steinway. Long Island City Kleaners used to be on Broadway, but has recently moved to Steinway. The clothing and lifestyle retailer, who takes their shop’s look from the classic NYC laundromats, closed its Broadway doors and reopened on Steinway on December 2. New place, but same style.
