We miss you in this space, Jumping Bulldog.

UPDATE 3/26/18: Looks like the new tea shop is called Loose Leaf. They have a website with a placeholder on it, and two empty social media accounts—Instagram and Pinterest. Looks like they’ll have an online commerce aspect to their business—the description on their Instagram account is “Delivering hand selected herbs and botanicals harvested from their wild roots and delivered straight to your home.” Thanks to Instagram user @astoria_nystyle for tagging us in their story and alerting us to the update.

Perusing the DOB I came across an indication of changes coming to 28-10 23rd Ave. It was for many years the home to Jumping Bulldog, then closed, then became a temporary fur accessory shop True Motto, and the DOB indicates a tea shop is on its way.

Looks like their renovations include new sinks and drains, hard piped coffee and espresso machines (because you can’t have a tea shop without an espresso machine), and they’ve upgraded part of the cooling system.

To be honest, we are always happy to see new local businesses open (and hopefully flourish) but it is curious that what the owners have chosen topen is a tea (and coffee) shop, what with the very successful NYC Bagel Coffee House and The Coffee Pot nearby, as well as To Laiko and Artopolis for excellent Greek frappes. Perhaps they will offer something unique and different; we are hopeful for that.

We’ll update this post with any new information we acquire.
