Summer in Winter – Summertime Beers and Fish Tacos in LIC

 We heard from our friends at Bedford and Bowery about a summery event coming up in Long Island City—one that can give you a temporary break from this bone chiller of a winter and remind you that summer will come again. The fun is on Saturday, January 27 from noon to 6pm at Rockaway Brewing’s LIC taproom.

Now, how will you thwart winter for this brief time? Chow down on Tacoway Beach’s famous fish tacos and wash it all down with Rockaway Brewing’s special batches of summertime IPAs like Muscle Beach (With a Sweater). Close your eyes and put them in your mouth, and remember the warmth of summer.

To amp up the summertime feels, they’ll be projecting surfing movies onto their wall, and you can take some snaps in the photo booth on site, all while listening to the DJ spin some summer music. And if you’re feeling brave in the clothing department, “come dressed your finest tropical shirts, nose painted white with a streak of zinc”—and there will be prizes given out for the best costume.

So mark your calendars for an afternoon of summer in winter—it might just be exactly the pick-me-up you need.
