If you’re looking for a way to give back and help your neighbors out this holiday season, consider making a donation of toys and/or winter coats, two things that are in high demand this time of year. And where can you do such a thing? Our councilman, Costa Constantinides, is collecting them, and has shared the details on his Facebook page: Help families in need during this holiday season of giving! We’re collecting new/unwrapped toys for children through December 12th. We’re also collecting new or lightly used winter coats through December 16th with Senator Michael Gianaris, Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas, and Assemblymember-elect Brian Barnwell. Both toys or coats can be donated at our office: 31-09 Newtown Ave, Suite 209. Email mcorbett@council.nyc.gov with any questions. We reached out to Costa’s office about this, who said, “During this holiday season of giving, helping those in need epitomizes the best of our community. While we all know what it’s like to be cold, it’s important to keep in mind that many New Yorkers endure freezing temperatures throughout the day with no relief. As we enjoy the holidays with family, many children grow up without the opportunity to open Christmas or holiday gifts. All New Yorkers deserve a warm, healthy, and generous-spirited holiday season. That’s why we’re coordinating these toy and coat drives with my partners in government. We thank all who have already donated.” So help out those in need this year, and thanks to Costa and his office for gathering the donations!
