There’s a strong feeling of neighborhood pride and support, and it shines even brighter during the holidays. This holiday season, We Heart Astoria wants to capture that camaraderie and compassion and turn it into action, along with the fantastic people at First Book NYC. Education is vital to every child’s development, and the joy of reading introduces young students to a whole new world of imagination and possibility. First Book NYC provides new books to children in need, tackling one of the most important factors affecting literacy: access to books. The organization distributes millions of free and low-cost books to children from low income families and the programs that serve them, and has recently expanded to all five boroughs. We Heart Astoria is holding our first ever Virtual Book Drive, with ALL proceeds going straight to into the community. For every $2.50 donated, Team First Book New York City is able to provide one new book to a child in our community. That means that if meet our goal of $2,500, we’ll be providing ONE THOUSAND books for NYC kids in need. Pretty amazing, don’t you think? But we can’t do it without your help! Donate here and support us as we introduce NYC kids to the wonderful world of books! Every little bit really does help :) For more information on First Book NYC, check out their official website here.
