It’s an exciting time at QED! Not only have they been recently visited by Jim Gaffigan and been nominated for a VERY prestigious Best of Astoria award, they’ve also got some super cool events coming up!

Most notably, they’ll be kicking off storytelling series What Are You Afraid Of? with host Mara Wilson this Sunday, April 24 at 8:30pm. Whether you know Mara best from her iconic role in Matilda, or from her grown-up work as a writer, you have to admit she’s made a pretty impressive name for herself.

From the official event description:

Death, commitment, sock puppets — everyone’s afraid of something. Laugh at your fears as host Mara Wilson takes you through comedians’ and performers’ anxieties (and a few of her own).

Lineup:
Jeff Simmermon (And I Am Not Lying)
Katharine Heller (Tell the Bartender)
Natalie Wall (Awkward Sex and the City)

The $8 adv./ $10 on the day of event.

Another cool series called Shit You Should Know (seen here on WHA’s new calendar!) will continue this upcoming Tuesday, April 26 at 7:30pm. This comedy show finds hosts Colum and Lev inviting their favorite NYC comics to the stage to not only make the audience laugh, but teach them all about a subject they should know about. It can be anything from rap music to rocket science, so the audience is sure to leave a little smarter, all for a $5 cover!

Want to be in-the-know about more cool events like these? Keep an eye on We Heart Astoria’s new calendar! Have an event to submit? Fill out the form here.
