Chances are, you’re a pro at enjoying Astoria’s wealth of fantastic Greek food–but how about Greek culture? If you’d like to add a little art to go with your souvlaki, we’ve got just the event for you!

The POEMobile is a multimedia extravaganza presented by City Lore, and it’s pulling into Astoria this Friday, October 9. (Not to be confused with the Pope Mobile. That left NYC two weeks ago!) The traveling entertainment vehicle projects poems into the night sky, sending the words up in the air above the heads of Greek poets, musicians, and dancers. The music and spoken words will tell the tales of Narcissus and other notable Greek myths.

Intrigued? So are we! The evening will be hosted by award-winning poet Dean Kostos and include readings by singer/actress Martha Tompoulidou, Obie Award-winning actor Dennis Boutsikaris, and music by The Mighty Third Rail.

The event will take place at the Hellenic Federation’s Stathakion Center (22-51 29th Street 29th Street) at 8pm. To learn more about City Lore, visit their website and Facebook page.

Enjoy!
