During this season of sweat, humidity, and long hot commutes, I find that water just doesn’t cut it. Here is a list of some awesome juice spots in Astoria guaranteed to rehydrate, reenergize, and quench your thirst during these final dog days of summer. Ginger Organic Photo by Dorian Cervantes As soon as you step into Ginger Organic you realize this is not your run of the mill juice bar, this is a sexy juice bar. The floors, walls, and tables are made of dark polished mahogany. The bright blue tin chairs add funky pops of color and the chalk board menu adds to the eclectic, cool vibe. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and the service is fast. The menu has over 20 different juice and smoothie combinations including an organic cocktail menu. YES, you can finally have a post workout margarita and not feel completely guilty. If you’re not in the mood to add spirits to your drink, try the Pineapple Pear Ginger pressed juice……life changer! I recommend visiting pre workout, post workout, and date night. Don’t let the name fool you, there are a lot of healthy options. This tiny restaurant hidden between Aliada and a residential building has a menu filled with mouth watering authentic Brazilian cuisine, but it’s the fresh pressed juices, smoothies, and acai bowls that really stand out. The juicing of exotic fruits like acerola (think tart cherry) and capuacu (cross between pineapple and chocolate) is what really sets this place apart from other juice joints. Try the Abaxi Com Hortela (pineapple mint smoothie). It comes highly recommended from the super friendly staff and I literally drank it in 2 minutes. Good for, breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, post work out. As soon as you walk in, you’re immediately charmed by the interior design of this organic market and cafe. This general store of healthy living is stocked with natural and locally farmed goods and has a menu that can satisfy any craving from breakfast to dessert. The drink menu is broken down into 4 different sections; FROM THE ROOTS, which are mini 1oz. concoctions designed to detox and energize. FRUIT & SMOOTHIES , literally just fruits and smoothies. PURE , just straight pressed juice, and ADD ONS, shots ranging from turmeric, to aloe vera, to protein, that can be added into any juice or smoothie for that extra boost. I ordered the Hollywood Glam smoothie (coconut water, coconut meal, blueberries, mint, and maca powder). I was extremely dehydrated from coaching Summer Shredd at Astoria Park and this smoothie was the wise choice. It was super hydrating, super healthy, and extremely delicious. You can visit Fresh Start for breakfast, lunch, dinner, pre and post workout. Fresh Start Organic Eatery & Market (29-13 23rd Ave. | (718) 204-7868) Yelp Where do you juice in Astoria?
