But this time, I want to sing their brunch praise, something I didn’t do until quite recently. While they’ve always had a solid hangover pizza game (not my thing), their newest menu now offers up things I can’t do without: herb-y polenta, salad topped omelettes, and crispy fries. The basil packed farmer’s market polenta, topped with eggs, mushrooms, and crispy potatoes, just might be why I walk 3 miles every Sunday. Vesta, 21-02 30th Avenue. Favorite Gym- Club Fitness This was the year I upped my game from Zumba, to Couch to 5k, and then finally to personal training (hey, Jenna, hey) , and I’ve loved every second at Club Fitness. The spacious layout and ample amenities (juice bar! parking!) make me happy to get up early and sweat it out. Club Fitness, 31-11 Broadway Favorite Bar- Mar’s I know, I know, it’s so much more than a bar, but Mar’s is my go-to spot to have casual drinks with friends and fancy get-business-done networking drinks. Their atmosphere can’t be beat and the food quality and outdoor seating are a major plus. Mar’s, 34-21 34th Avenue Favorite Salon- Studio Nova After hearing Emily’s raves, I finally took the plunge and went to see Nina at Studio Nova. I’m so glad I did. After my color touch up last week, people haven’t stopped complimenting my new blonde. Nina is hip, funky, warm, and welcoming and I can’t say enough about the products and space. Try it for yourself. Studio Nova, 37-01 36th Avenue Favorite New Arrival- Chela & Garnacha Photo credit: Chela Garnacha You guys, I cannot believe this GEM of a restaurant didn’t win big in our Best of Astoria poll. To put it mildly- these tacos are effing delicious! It’s our go-to date night spot: veggie tacos lined with mouth watering frico-d cheese for me (extra grilled jalapeno & house made salsas, please), mushroom tacos for her. Guac and margaritas for everyone. If you haven’t been yet, they’re now open for brunch, so there’s no excuses.
