It’s that time again—time for the New York Cares Coat Drive, now in its 26th year. And on a cold, rainy day like this is feels particularly relevant. Did you know that since the start of the Coat Drive, NY Cares has collected and distributed more than 1.6 million coats to New Yorkers in need? Still, they can use even more—each year they get requests for 100,000 coats and typically collect 80,000. The need is real, and NY Cares depends on individuals, groups, and organizations to get the job done.

As you can see, your donation of a new or gently-used coat could really help someone else in need of protection and warmth. And there are a number of drop-off locations in Astoria to make it easy to give—here are the Astoria locations:

  • Astoria Library, 14-01 Astoria Blvd
  • Steinway Library, 21-45 31 St
  • Broadway Library, 40-20 Broadway
  • 114th Precinct, 34-16 Astoria Blvd

You can find other locations here (perhaps someplace closer to work, etc.). Also know you can donate coats at Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station.

Every coat you donate makes a difference. The NY Cares Coat Drive goes until December 31, 2014.
